My start up Innovative Marine Nano 16

Hi and sorry for using English! I thought it best to show the progress of my start-up of the tank here.
My tank is a Innovative Marine 16 Gallon Nano tank, same brand mini-skimmer, standard pump and heater, light LED Razor as recommended here in another thread!
Live rock (which smells and seems pretty well cured), live sand from Decocean, along with pre-mixed water.
Here's my set up as of the start.

Nice!....to me your aquascape seems a bit dense though!
Are u satisfied with your AquaGadget skimmer ....noise etc.

That tank looks great!
I have to agree with Leif though, that you might want to revisit your aquascape. If you can somehow make it lighter and more open, I think you will be happier in the long run, both for aesthetic reasons and for technical. It's not easy to get enough flow through the rocks, if they are stacked too densely.
Apart from that, it looks like you're off from a good start

Thanks for the comments guys. It's a bit early days for knowing if he skimmer is good though it's small, neat and fits the tank well. Regarding aquascaping youre absolutely right I'm terrible at it.will try to do something else with it tomorrow

I don't think it's all bad at all. As such I like the overall 'composition' with two mountains of different size, none of the being quite in the centre. But working a bit more with getting some more in there will probably make you happier in the long run

Yeah!....but noise?

It's a little bubbly, but not a great deal of noise at all.

Are you going to run a DSB? If not I would pull out 3/4 of the sand - it going to be a gunk trap over time and give you a hell of alot of trouble

I was planning on a DSB, do you think I shouldn't?

Nope - just be sure to read up on it
The reason why I mention it is that alot of people just dumps alot of sand in for the looks - not thinking about the consequences

I like the DSB a lot. If I had to re-do my tank I would do it with a DSB aswell
It looks good and its good food for corals.

I too find DSB fascinating and would love to keep one. I do think it might be a problem getting it deep enough in a small tank like yours (and my own) to actually work. If it's not deep enough, it will probably crash as some point, causing all kinds of problems. But if you can get it to work, I'll be following this thread very closely

Well, I'm going to see how it proceeds. My next question will be how long I leave before considering something in the tank. I'm in no rush, but I have live sand, rock and good water. So in time, it won't be just rocks.

Rescaped as per suggestions

Much better!
I would place the right side rock between the two middel pieces (room between all pieces) towards the back pane in order to free the sides (cleaning) and benefit from the stronger light in the middle.
Just a suggestion

not sure if it is possible, bare in mind I only see the scape in 2D.

Exellent platform for coral placement.
If you remove the small rock....i.e glue it on top of the center rock you will gain optical depth and great perspective. The small rock blocks the view. Forgive me...just can't stop thinking as if it was my own tank

I have a fun question. You've seen the tank, the layout and you know the size. Tell me, what would your stock list be for this tank everyone?
