The Tunze 9010 skimmers are great and there are lots of good comments. However, I don't think the same quality/performance scales to the 9015 model. The only difference in the 9015s is that the collection cup is taller. According to Roger Vitko from Tunze USA, "the 9015 can only collect a heavier thicker skimmate and I think that leaves some material unremoved compared to a more wattery skimmate". He has and prefers the 9010 over the 9015.
So, this leads to the next question: Is the 9010 enough for a 180g?
Here's the response from Roger:
[quote:d1cf265bc0]The factory rates them the following way, and I think it is accurate.
The stated rating applies to what used to be termed a Dutch reef, soft corals and macro algaes and a modest fish population.
For heavier densities of LPS and soft corals reduce the rating by 20%
For SPS reduce the rating by 40%
For a heavily stocked tank of SPS and many fish reduce the rating by 60%.[/quote:d1cf265bc0]
Assuming about 30% drop in rating w/ a decent bio-load, the capacity would be about 185g. I think this is too close and wouldn't allow me much flexibility in the future. I would rather have too much on this than too little.
HVA MENES DER HER?? at skum koppen på 9010 er bedre???????????
