A week in and seeing a bit of green growth. Normal or no? Should i look at a clean up crew yet do you think? I'm starting to need to clean the glass daily now. Is this a good thing do you think?

For gods sake! Don't put stafishes in a tank that size, even in a big tank they often starve to death. Any experienced aquarist will tell you so. A dead starfish would polute a small tank in no time and leave dead tank.

With live sand and rocks I would leave the tank for at least a month or so before putting anything in it

With a DSB I would not do that. It would round up the sand bed too much. If you buy a snail be sure its not one that disturb the sand bed too much.
I wouldn't have a Eremit in a DSB tank. Not as far as I understand. I might be wrong thouhg, then someone have to correct me please.

Three weeks in and I have some growth on the rocks, fine dusting of algae on glass. Trying to work out where I can buy Chemi-Pure here to drop in the sump. I got two clowns once I was sure the water was steady and now, on week 3 I put them in. They are doing ok!

Next up. Need to find someone near Osterport who is interested in selling me frags, otherwise I'll have to go buy at a shop! I'm planning on all brightly coloured frags for this tank. Excited!

I have had quite a strong growth of this stuff (pictured) I don't know the exact name of it (i'm not a big green stuff expert) but I'm wondering - is it something I should discourage, is this something I should be concerned about? Is it something that some phosphate killer will help with? I need Chemi Pure but haven't found any here yet. Can anyone enlighten me please?

This stuff goes away by itself...normally. I'm a bit concerned about you putting fish in the tank before it is fully cycled. Normal procedure is to start adding life to the tank after the break in algae has disappeared. The problem is that with fish in the tank you have to feed and I'm worried about fueling the algae so they might not go away as they normally do, but I cross my fingers for you.
My advice now that you have added the fishes is to start to change water once a week....20-25%.

I used them to buy the skimmer that fits the tank and some other accessories, their service was really fast and good. I would recommend them, I'm sure they can get or have the tank.

Guys I have another question which I think is interesting. My tank is small and I have no car, so buying RO water is a pain in the ass for top ups of my tank. Do any of you know of a good RO common Danish water manufacturer who does 'drinking' water which is RO and ideally maybe has a low or harmless level of TDS?

Why not just buy a reverse osmose like this and you can make it at home

I think having an RO unit attached to one of our taps may drive my wife to murder :/ With a tank my size if I can find a bottled standard water available in a supermarket that would be an amazing help. Getting RO and Salt water is proving to be a huge challenge.

Hey Rich, did you visit the "Klovnfisken" shop yet? It's not that far away from Østerbro and i guess it's the closest fish store to you. They may be able to sell you some gallons of RO water if you need it.

I did visit Klovnfisken, it's not terribly far away, but is a bus journey and my water containers are pretty big (I think 10 US gallon?) it would be a pretty big hassle walking from the store to the bus, on the bus and then back home! I liked the store very much although my clowns that I got there were pretty damn expensive!

You do not have to have a RO unit connected allways. I just connect mine to the tap when I'm making my water for an hour or two and then afterwards I disconnect it and put the unit away untill next time.

I do the same as Leif. For a tank uor size, it takes an hour to make enough water for a water change and maybe 3 minutes to disconnect and put away for storage. I keep my unit packed away in the same bucket I use for mixing salt water, so it's no hazzle at all

The problem is where to put it in my tiny room, when i'm not making water

Maybe I will look into buying one, although the one I bought would need to be suitable for reefs, inexpensive and not need lots of new parts all the time. That may be a challenge....
